Billboard Inspirations
I have chose some of my favourite billboard designs from a range of areas including the UK and USA. I have noticed that most billboards have little but large text in order for it stand out amongst passers by and make it easy to read. I have found that the image tends to take up half the page and the text takes up the other which is a design I like and will incorporate in my billboard as it's simple and doesn't create an eyesore so passers by can quickly notice what the billboard entails and what it's trying to say without paying to much attention to it. As shown by the Beatles billboard and the Lana Del Rey album billboard, smaller text can be used for less important text which is also something I will incorporate in my billboard as I find it makes the billboard look more attractive but also keeps viewers looking in order to read the smaller font therefore analysing the billboard in more depth which will hopefully help audience's remember it.
Typically, billboards tend to be in colour however to challenge this concept I will make mine black and white as I feel this will stand out better amongst a built up area which would be filled with colour in itself. The images used in billboards tend to have high lighting and a specific background e.g the Beatles billboard in which there is an american flag in the background. The high lightening is used in oder to place emphasis on the faces of the artists which is something I will incorporate in my billboard to help ensure the focus of the billboard is prominent.
